OPEC secretary-general Abdalla el-Badri Thursday said the group had asked its members to adhere to their agreed crude output ceiling of 30 million b/d, and for those countries currently over-producing to reduce their output.
Badri, referring to the final communique issued after OPEC's Vienna talks which called for adherence with the 30 million b/d ceiling, said that members that were responsible for some 1.6 million b/d of overproduction should cut back.
"Those that are producing 1.6 million b/d, we did not mention them, but they should come back to 30 million b/d," he said.
Asked whether those countries had agreed, he replied: "Yes."
